About the Artist

Alexander Timofeev has been the recipient of awards for his compositions at Valsske Mezirici International Competition (Slovakia), Slonimsky International Competition (Russia), Carl Filtsh International Competition (Romania) and premiered his works at the Philomusica Festival (England), Darclee Voice Competition and Festival (Romania), Novye Imena (Russia), Northern Lights Festival (USA) among other festivals. He won the Third Prize in the 2007 MTNA Young Artist Piano Competition (Toronto) and won the Eastman School Concerto Competition.

Mr. Timofeev had his debut as a conductor with the National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova. His conducting engagements at the Northern Lights Music Festival (Aurora, MN) featured Britten's opera Noye's Fludde (2008) and Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (2009).  Mr. Timofeev is the beneficiary of the University of Maryland Doctoral Fellowship. He is currently on the faculty at Rowan University in New Jersey.
